This book was published in 1984 by the Waukesha County Historical Society and contains: aboriginal cultures, government, agriculture, architecture, education, religion, military, business and recreational histories of the County.

“Discovering Waukesha County” by Anne Celano Frohna
Published in 2002 by the Waukesha County Historical Society, this 32 page paperback history book done in full color takes the reader from the ice age in Waukesha County to it first peoples, settlers, farming, school days, factories, fun places and famous people.

“The Great Waukesha Springs Era 1868 – 1918” by John M. Schoenknecht.
A comprehensive study of the history of the mineral spring water industry. People came first for the healing waters, then a family vacation destination. Many bottling plants were built to distribute the water.

“Spring City’s Past, A Thematic History of Waukesha” published by the City of Waukesha Landmarks Commission
This book focuses on Waukesha’s historic sties and buildings. The three main periods of the City’s history are: pre-white settlement years through pioneer times (approximately 1800-1867), the spring’s era (1868-1915) and industry and manufacturing.

A story about the birth of an idea and the growth of the Avalon Hotel in the city of Waukesha.
