Volunteers are an integral part of the Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum. Volunteers assist in all areas of the historical society’s operations. All needed information and training is provided and schedules are flexible. For more information, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Waukesha County Historical Society and Museum welcomes undergraduate and graduate students to learn and work alongside our staff and volunteers. Interns at the museum gain valuable hands-on experience in a range of areas, from fundraising and marketing to collections management. More information on current openings can be found here.
Research or Collection Support
Work with staff in collection development, verification, organization, and item specific research for exhibit or departmental use. Assist the staff and the public with research requests on various local history topics including genealogy and property research. Customer service and computer skills (use of specialized museum computer software) are desired as is a willingness to complete seemingly minor tasks like photocopying, scanning, and inventory.
Docents & Educators
Our docents have the opportunities to share a range of stories from Waukesha County history. From the earliest days of our county’s settlement to the music of Les Paul and everything in between, our docents present programs to a variety of youth and adult audiences. You needn’t be an expert on history, we provide you with all the information. Want to try something new and rewarding? Become a docent at the Waukesha County Museum!
